Hi, my name is Alex but my friends call me Gronk, so I guess you can too!
I began playing the piano when I was five, and even then I couldn’t wait to start learning. I soon started to tinker around with my dad’s old reel-to-reel tape machine, recording songs and experimenting with making backwards tape loops.
I studied music at Eton before obtaining my English Literature degree from Goldsmiths College, then completing a diploma in Sound Engineering at Alchemea College in London. Over the course of the same decade I played with several bands, both live and in the studio, on keyboards, voice and guitar.
I’ve played at the Glastonbury and Standon Calling festivals, and at the Roundhouse, Underworld and Barfly venues in London; I’ve worked in the recording studios at the Royal Academy of Music, Pierce Entertainment and Kore; artists I’ve worked with include Mystery Jets, Razorlight, Senser and Florence & The Machine.
After becoming a father and moving south from London, I’m seeing my music career transition from primarily live performance to recording and writing services – though I still play regularly at the Grey Lady, an excellent venue in Tunbridge Wells which I’d recommend if you’re ever in the area.
I hope you enjoy exploring this website and hearing some of the weird and often wonderful sounds it’s been my pleasure to capture over the years. Please contact me if you’d like to know more about any of the services I offer.
