Hello there … my name is Alex but my friends call me “Gronk”, so I hope you will too!
I began playing the piano when I was five, and even then I couldn’t wait to start learning. I soon started to tinker around with my dad’s old reel-to-reel tape machine, recording songs and experimenting with making backwards tape loops.
I studied Piano, Guitar and Music Technology and obtained my degree from Goldsmiths College, then completed a diploma in Sound Engineering at Alchemea College in London. Over the course of the same decade I played in several bands, both live and in the studio, and worked as a private tutor of English, Maths and Piano.
I’ve played at Glastonbury and Standon Calling festivals, and at the Roundhouse, Underworld and Barfly venues in London; I’ve worked in the recording studios at the Royal Academy of Music, Pierce Entertainment and Kore; artists I’ve worked with include Mystery Jets, Razorlight, Senser and Florence & The Machine.
After becoming a father and moving south from London, I’m seeing my music career transition from primarily live performance to recording and writing services – though I still play regularly at the Grey Lady, an excellent venue in Tunbridge Wells which I’d recommend if you’re ever in the area.
I hope you enjoy exploring this website and hearing some of the (often) weird and (sometimes) wonderful sounds it’s been my pleasure to capture over the years. Please contact me if you’d like to know more about any of the services I offer.
