2010? Bring it on!
A Happy New Year to all! 2010 promises to be a busy one…

Band sounds great, album will be late
So the full band finally came together on Saturday: three guitars, bass, drums, trumpet and two backing singers. I left the session mulling over what it means to be a musician: there are those who like to spend hours in a darkened room working intricate structures up to note-perfect standard, and those who just want to hammer out a groove in a room filled with the like-minded.
After Saturday I know which kind I prefer. Consummate musicians, all of the band members, but of the extrovert kind—totally unfazed by the idea of being presented with a song they'd never heard, in the knowledge that they only had time to run through it once or twice before performing it live. The session sounded absolutely fantastic, better than I'd dared to hope for—roll on the weekend and the Hoxton gig!
