A Sky Of Starlings

Thanks to all who came to the Enterprise for last Friday's show - it was one of our very favourites and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. I was particularly pleased with the way brand-new song 'Just Like Walter Mitty' turned out; you can listen to the demo here and a band recording is in the offing very soon. We are slated to play the Monarch on 30th June, though this is looking uncertain as I may be out of the country during that week - I'll keep you posted.

Sessions have begun for the first Body Doubles album, tentatively titled Safety In Numbers - I have laid down guide guitar, vocal and bass tracks for ten songs, with another two or three kept in reserve. About half the songs will be reworked band versions of tracks which have previously appeared on solo releases ('Marble Arch', 'When You Walk' etc.); the other half will be new songs such as 'Goodbye Again' and 'When You Get Home', which have come into being during the band's existence.

It would be great to get it all done in time for a late summer release, but anyone who knows my usual release schedules should take that with a large pinch of smelling salts! ... Whatever happens, demos and rough mixes will be appearing on the site from next month.

I got an email from Carl at Pineapple Charm a couple of weeks ago asking whether he could use my song 'A Mist Of Stars' as the soundtrack for some footage he had taken, and here is the result: a rather eerie film of starlings flocking around Wansdworth Bridge on a winter evening. Nice stuff Carl!
